For Zevo insect sprays, what does “when used as directed” mean?

What is Zevo Flying Insect Trap?

Zevo Flying Insect Trap consists of a durable plug-in device base (which uses two blue and two UV LED lights as an insect attractant), and a disposable refill cartridge that contains a strong adhesive pad that the insects get stuck on. This insecticide-free trap continuously lures and traps flying insects inside your home.

DEVICE BASE: Zevo’s U.S. device base is in compliance with applicable third party electrical safety standards. It is a durable, plug-in base that requires 120V/60Hz power and a standard North American plug type. Zevo’s device base uses 0.3W of power, but cannot be activated (i.e. blue/UV lights won’t turn on) until a cartridge is inserted on top of it and it’s plugged-in.

DISPOSABLE REFILL CARTRIDGE: Zevo’s disposable refill cartridge is a plastic shell-shaped design with discreet openings. The cartridge encases a super-strong adhesive sticky-pad that traps and holds flying insects until they dry-up and die. The cartridge snaps onto the device base and, once it’s plugged-in, the blue/UV lights from the device base shine up into the cartridge, creating a blue glow.

Zevo A Bug Killer You Can Feel Good About That Actually Works!

This post is sponsored by Zevo. All opinions are my own.

Like most Southern families, we spend a lot of time outdoors. One of my favorite things to do is sit on my front porch with my kids and dog and watch them play in the front yard -coffee always a must!

What I don’t like, is little bugs crawling around the porch -it seems that they can smell good coffee from a mile away. Over the years, we’ve tried a lot of insect and pest control systems but none of them seemed to have what I was looking for: a bug killer that was effective, didn’t smell or contain harsh ingredients, and that was safe* to use around my kids and pets.

Thanks to the internet and Pinterest, we’ve even tried making a homemade version; you know, the type where you mix everything in a 5-gallon bucket, transfer it to a sprayer, and then spray around your home? Yeah, that didn’t work and I should have saved my essential oils for something else.

Until one day, I was introduced to Zevo, a new brand of home pest control products. Whether it be flies, roaches, or ants, Zevo can effectively eliminate bugs while being safe for use around people and pets.

Why Choose a Nature-Inspired Bug Killer

In the south, we have flies, roaches, and tons of ants. Everywhere. Inside and outside the home -and no, it’s not because we keep our homes dirty. If it rains too much, ants will find a way to come inside. Roaches you just can’t keep out, and flies are a pain if you want to entertain outdoors.

Have you checked out the ingredients on the back of a typical roach killer? Most contain DEET an ingredient which effectively kills bugs but also can wreak havoc on our nervous system receptors, especially in kids. No thanks!

So what’s a mom to do? Accept those creeping, crawling things in the house and go on with life? Or, find an effective and safe product that works. The latter, thank you.

I chose Zevo because it uses bio-selective technology in its sprays and traps and they use nature-inspired active ingredients that effectively kill bugs while being safe for my family.

Choosing a Bug Killer that is Safe for Kids

Unlike other insect control brands, Zevo offers a nature-inspired bug spray that has a deep understanding of the difference between bugs vs. people/pets so it targets nervous system receptors only active in bugs.

It’s a much smarter and cleaner way of taking care of pesky problems without causing anxiety or concern about chemicals being sprayed in and around the house..

Zevo is way smarter than bugs

This is one insect control product I feel completely confident using in my home and around my family, it effectively eliminates bugs while being safe for use around people and pets when used as directed.

And contrary to homemade versions, which call for a concoction of vinegar that stinks and essential oils, Zevo comes in two forms, insect traps and spray, both ready to go. The best part is that it works!

I have Zevo’s Insect Trap near the kitchen because it attracts and captures insects without chemical insecticides — using instead a multi-spectrum light technology and simulated body heat to attract and eliminate flying insects.

What Makes Zevo Safe Around Families and Pets?

With 3 kids and a dog, I have a full house but when the warmer months arrive and schools out, you can imagine what it’s like! Coincidentally, it’s also an active time for bug infestations, so powering up with Zevo is a must!

In the kitchen and one near the pantry, I like to use Zevo Flying Insect Traps. It helps keep gnats, fruit flies and flies under control. And, there’s nothing worse than buying a delicious pineapple that needs to be kept on the counter for a few days to ripen only to find that over those days, fruit flies have multiplied all over the kitchen. Ugh, no thanks!

Safe & Effective Insect Control for Your Yard

During warm weather, my family likes staying outdoors whether it’s playing in the back yard or hanging out while dinner cooks on the grill. Of course, warm weather and grilling food in our outdoor kitchen attracts all things that crawl, so keeping Zevo Spray handy while we’re out on the back patio and outdoor kitchen area is an easy way to enjoy a pest-free time. I see the bugs, I spray the bugs, and I can quickly get back to enjoying my outdoor time.

The active ingredients in Zevo sprays are inspired by plants’ natural defenses against insects/bugs and unlike other insect control products made with harsh chemicals, it’s safe to spray where both the kids and pets hang around.

In the end, we all want to enjoy our time indoors and outdoors bug-free all while keeping harsh ingredients away from our family and pets.

I’ll give credit where it’s due, bugs are very resilient and very smart, but Zevo outsmarts them. Head over to Zevo’s website to see how they’re #WaySmarterThanBugs and how they offer a safe yet effective solution to keeping your home pest free, as well as purchase them online.

Zevo Insect Spray REVIEW

Unfortunately the Zevo Insect Spray is not as good as I had hoped it would’ve been. It didn’t kill the roaches .I had to basically use the whole bottle to get very little result.

This product definitely kills on contact, but doesn’t keep ants away. They come right back. The smell is not very strong. Its OK- if you are trying to contain ant infection-In your kitchen window sills because it Kills spiders in their web- It does not kill Roaches if any size or kind-on contact or be carried to their nest– Its pricey- for so little pest control- I had to drown a water bug with this spray in my bath tub- to kill it- Or at least render it helpless so I could get it out & flush it- I won’t even waste it on my flying summer bugs — Not worth the money or time to use it.

How effective is it and is it worth my money ?

Zevo Insect Spray Is quite effective, for spiders at least, but takes a hell of a lot to get to them. Really expensive, though. It’s mostly peppermint oil, so might be cheaper to just make you own. Few were having an issue with ants in the kitchen, they purchased this product in hopes of finding a lasting solution that is safe to use around animals. Eco Defense did kill the ants on contact and they felt safe spraying it close to where the pets ate. But the spray did not keep the ants away for very long. They came back after only a few hours and I have been spraying them daily with no signs that they are repelled at all! Almost useless and overpriced for the little amount that it does.

Does the Eco- defense really work?

Eco Defense is a safe alternative to toxic insect sprays but hasn’t worked as a repellent for me. Maybe it works better at keeping other types of insects away and you’ll have better luck with Eco Defense than I did. not sure how well this stuff actually works. I think it’s good for small tiny bugs and we’ve sprayed it along door cracks and things to keep them from coming in. However, I also tried spraying it directly on a pretty large spider. Pretty much drenched him and he was totally fine. I think it’s mostly about the scent.

Do bugs actually vanish?

Bugs probably don’t like it so they avoid it .It kills bugs on contact. What The Zevo Insect Spray doesn’t do is PREVENT bugs for too long. 2 weeks after spraying all edges of my walls, bugs were already back. Definitely never prevented basement bugs such as snails, rolly-polies, and centipedes.

How to Get R > May 23, 2018

This How to Get Rid of Bugs at Home post is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Zevo. The opinions and text are all mine.

After the little bit of rain we had in April, we started to get A LOT of mosquitos in the house. I swear I was batting away a mosquito every five minutes, plus, everytime we opened a door, more would fly in! We’ve also had quite a few annoying gnats flying around the kitchen. So, I decided to wage a war against all of them and I’m sharing how to bug-proof your home in case you too are fighting an insect war!

Seal Off Any Entry Points

So, I started my home bug proofing by sealing off any entry points. The weather stripping underneath our front door came off during some renovations, so we’ve had a 1/4″ gap underneath our door for months! My husband told me a yellow jacket even flew under the door and into the house the other day! So that was the first thing I knew needed to be fixed. Unfortunately, we have a 42″ door which isn’t very “standard” and it’s taking a while for a brass door sweep to ship to us, but once it’s delivered, I’m installing it ASAP! You should inspect your doors and make sure there aren’t any openings around them. You can install a threshold, a door sweep, weather stripping, etc. to seal off any access points. By closing up any gaps, you’re also making your home more energy efficient! Those gaps lose cold air during the summer and warm air during the winter, so you’re saving money with your energy bills by sealing everything.

Another area to inspect is the screens on all your windows. Check for holes or gaps. If there are holes, get the screens repaired and if the screen is loose and causing a gap between the screen and the window, adjust it back into place so bugs can’t fly in. We have new windows and screens, so I know they aren’t coming in through any holes in the screens, but I d /> Check for Standing Water

Next, check your yard for standing water. Mosquitos need a water supply to breed – it’s where they lay their eggs – so standing water is like a welcome mat for mosquitos! Get rid of it ASAP! Check for any pools of water around your yard – possibly in bird baths, water fountains, fire pits, empty pots, trash cans, children’s yard toys, pools, etc. I’ve even seen announcements on the neighborhood app, Next Door, asking residents to check their yards because we’ve had so many mosquitos this year.

But, bugs are always going to find a way inside! Even when you just open the door when entering and exiting. So, here are my tips for fighting them when they do come inside the house:

Bug Spray

It just so happened that while I was battling our mosquitos, Zevo Safe & Powerful Insect Protection reached out to me about trying their Zevo Whole Home Protection System with Instant Action Sprays and Flying Insect Traps. With the babies and Lucy, my cat, I’m not going to spray dangerous chemical bug sprays around the house, I hate the way hanging fly traps look, and I’m terrible with a fly swatter, so I was happy to try something new! They have formulas available for crawling, flying, and stinging insects.

Zevo Instant Action Sprays are made with common essential oils. The active ingredients are cinnamon oil, lemongrass oil, and geraniol. (Yeah, I had to look that last one up and I’m just going to link to the wiki article on geraniol here.) The sprays work by targeting a nervous system receptor only active in bugs which paralyzes and kills them. The sprays can be used to eliminate an insect on contact or as a preventative on hard surfaces like wood or tile floors and walls. Remember that Zevo is intended to be sprayed on surfaces, not on skin, or directly on people or pets. I love that I don’t have to worry about the smell or the danger of harsh chemicals around my babies and cat. Other sprays? They contain chemicals like imiprothrin, cypermethrin pyrethro />Herb Garden

I’ve read that bugs do not like strong smells including basil, mint, and rosemary, etc.. So, I purchased a basil plant that I’m trying to keep alive in my kitchen. Plus, I love putting basil on my pizza, so if I can keep it alive, it’s really a win-win! I’m keeping it near the sink and trash cans to try to minimize the flying gnats that usually congregate around there. If you have a green thumb, you can plant a mini herb garden in your kitchen to try to deter any gnats and use while you’re cooking!Food Storage and Cleaning

Obviously, don’t leave food lying around. Flies and ants love food! So be sure to store food in airtight containers. Wash dishes immediately. And, put pet food away when your pet is not eating or invest in an automatic feeder. Avoid clutter like magazines, papers, etc. Roaches love the smell of paper, so try to get rid of that stack of mail in the kitchen regularly.

Store Trash Properly

Finally, be sure to keep food trash only in the kitchen and not in other parts of the house. Keep l /> Did I miss any tips or tricks? Let me know what you do to bug proof your home in a comment below!

Zevo Flying Insect Trap Review (Updated 2019!)

You know, one of the reasons I chose my (now former) apartment is that it is set around a gorgeous lake.

What I failed to think about was the type of insects I’d have to deal with on a daily basis as I enter my apartment, which is why I love my Zevo flying insect trap.

I am a city girl at heart, and I don’t like dealing with flying insects, especially ones that can bite or sting me or Pee Wee.

Every day I look totally silly as I swat around my kitchen and living room trying to get rid of gnats, mosquitoes, fruit flies and any other random thing that comes in my home.

It’s a really big problem living in Texas, and I’ve tried EVERYTHING. I hate the chemicals (and subsequent chemical smell) of traditional insect repellents and sprays.

I also worry about the health ramifications of inhaling the traditional chemical based bug spray stuff, and I do not want Pee Wee’s allergies to get any worse than they already are.

Zevo Flying Insect Trap: No Chemicals!

We’re in and out of home a lot from going to work, to taking Pee Wee out on walks, and throwing the trash out, and we’ve unsuccessfully tried to combat this insect problem.

This is why I’m taking a slight departure from home decor to provide a thorough review about the Zevo Flying Insect Trap starter kit.

Zevo is an affordable, fabulous new product that uses no chemical insecticides to attract and trap flying insects.

For me, that is so important because of Pee Wee. You see, Pee Wee is a senior dog who has terrible allergies. We make it a priority to buy scent free, environmentally friendly products that won’t harm us or our dog.

The Zevo insect trap is worry free for me and my family. I also love that it doesn’t have any smell whatsoever.

Using Zevo insect traps is as easy as plugging something in a wall in your home. The cost is affordable, and I love the premise of set it and forget it (until it’s time to switch the cartridge).

Zevo Starter Kit Details

Each Zevo Starter Kit comes with the main trap and two cartridges (one is a refill and the other you will use right away to get started).

A Zevo cartridge lasts about 30-45 days. Truthfully, in the fall/winter when flying insects are less of a problem, I leave the cartridges a bit past the 45 day mark. And I mean, really, really past the 45 day mark.

It’s recommended that you plug these in around problem areas in your home. For us, that was the kitchen and living room/patio door area in the apartment.

We now use the Zevo trap in our new home, and I have one in our main foyer area as well as our dining room since there’s a patio door in that area, too.

Other rooms/areas could be garage, laundry room or mudroom. Really anywhere you have an outlet that is visible (not behind furniture) would work since the bugs have to “see” the blue UV light to be attracted to it.

Zevo Insect Trap Results

The Zevo is awesome because of the blue UV light.

Here’s the one I had in the kitchen right above the sink and garbage disposal in our former apartment, which was also near our kitchen trash can and patio door.

The photo below is when I left for work in the morning…

(I’ll note again, the Zevo flying insect trap has no smell and other than the faint “blue” light, doesn’t really command attention.)

And when I came home 10 hours later there were about 5-6 gnats trapped on there and a small fly, which is impressive for a few hours.

During peak mosquito and gnat season here in South Texas, the Zevo trap I have here in the new house in my kitchen was catching them on the regular.

I sharpened and increased the contrast in the photo below from the old apartment so you can see the culprits a bit easier.

Gnats seem to really easily fall prey to the Zevo.

In the living room, I had it set-up to help catch the ones that come in from the front door and the patio door.

So far no critters have taken the plunge into that blue light, and I ended up having to move it closer to the front door to have a bit more success.

They’re super easy to move around since you just literally plug them in, and some trial and error is needed with placement in larger/open areas.

As a home decor lover who hates bugs, I love that they just kind of blend in and don’t draw too much attention.

So, if you’ve landed here after googling Zevo trap or insect spray reviews, please know I do love Zevo (even nearly 20+ months after publishing my initial review), and you may have to play with placement for optimal results.

And here’s a bit of a darker photo to show you all the blue light, which is the all natural key to attracting the insects to the Zevo trap.

Once the cartridge is full, just toss it in the trash and snap on a new cartridge. They do stay plugged in 24/7, so it’s always working hard for you.

I truly love how easy it is to switch the cartridges, and I don’t have to touch any pesky insects!

Another unintended bonus is that they serve as lovely nightlights in case you need some guidance.

If you’d like to read more reviews, learn more about why/how Zevo works (and why it’s a safe option for your home, and especially around pets and kids), or buy your own starter kit for less than $13, you can head to the Zevo website. Also, they sell both the starter kits and refills online at Home Depot.

Zevo Insect Sprays

Recently Zevo added insect sprays to their pest control product line-up, and I actually did receive some media samples to try out.

We really do love the sprays because they don’t contain the harsh chemicals or scents of traditional bug and insect sprays. And once again, Zevo is amazing with making sure it is safe to use around children and pets, while also being affordable and effective.

The sprays are powered by “natural science” and not by harmful chemicals, according to Zevo’s website. With spring around the corner, I know we’ll get to use the insect sprays by Zevo quite a bit.

If you have any questions, drop it in the comments and I will do my best to reply!
