Welcome to

There is something magical about a Christmas wedding and this wedding certainly had that je ne se qua! Kelly and Dave chose to have a Christmas wedding at the Grasshopper Inn in Westerham, which is a gorgeous little country pub in the middle of Kent.

A Grasshopper Inn wedding is quite something anyway, given its quaint location and abundance of beautiful countryside surrounding the tudor looking exterior.

This beautiful Christmas wedding sent out feelings of toasted marshmellows, log fires, bauble’s, pine cones and mistletoe.

Add to the mix a very festive couple and this was simply a beautiful Christmas wedding.

Kelly and Dave chose to have a Grasshopper Inn wedding as it was the kind of venue that meant something to them. Full of charm, feeling and of a size that created a very close and personal feel. I simply loved it!

“My husband and I were lucky enough to have Ross photograph our beautiful winter wedding. He is professional, and a little quirky! He really thought about the theme of our day and the types of shots we were after. My wedding photos are amazing and my most treasured possessions.” – Kelly and Dave

Check out Kelly and Dave’s amazing wedding day below… one that will live long in the memory!

Dan & Gemma’s Wedding At The Grasshopper Inn

Dan & Gemma’s Wedding At The Grasshopper Inn

Hey Folks! Today’s blog is all about Gemma and Dan’s Rustic Wedding day which was held at The Grasshopper Inn, Westerham.

Gemma and Dan went for a shabby chic/rustic feel with lots of hessian and lace used throughout their day. To add an extra personal touch, they decorated jam jars, handmade their invitations and name place cards.

‘We got married at The Grasshopper Inn in Westerham. We chose this venue before it was the first one we had seen that we both liked and could see ourselves getting married there. We loved the tudor style which was perfect for the intimate wedding we wanted.

‘ Gemma and Dan chose grape purple, cream and pastel pink as their main colours. For their flowers they had pale pink and cream roses, dark lisyanthus and cream Colombian hydrangeas. The button holes were purples spray roses.

Gemma’s dress was a strapless ivory fishtail dress which was covered in lace. From the waist down there was a layer over the top which was embellished with lace around the bottom. Gemma loved how completely different it was compared to anything else she’d tried, and it immediately made her cry which she knew was probably a good sign! To complete her bridal outfit, Gemma’s hair was curled with half of it pinned back using a sparkly and pearl clip. Make up was kept fairly natural as she’s not a huge make up wearer day to day, so didn’t want anything too drastic that wasn’t ‘her’.

The bridesmaids wore grape purple, floor length dresses with one shoulder strap, accompanied by gold strappy heels and gold/pearl bracelet and earring sets. The Groomsmen wore navy suits, with grape ties and pocket squares to match the bridesmaids. The Groom wore the same but with a waistcoat, which made him stand out against the others.

‘The whole day was perfect, we couldn’t have asked for a better day. It was full of happiness and laughter and we want to do it all over again. Truly the best day of our lives! There are loads of memories we could share with you but one I can share, is Dan’s brother who was one of the ushers, spontaneously beat boxing just before he was about to introduce us in to the wedding breakfast, we were not expecting it and we loved it.’

Grasshopper Inn in Westerham, Kent anyone??

Is anyone else getting married at the Grasshopper Inn in Westerham?

I am, on 18th October. Would love to hear from anyone else getting married there!

Lucky you. My hubby2b lived in Redhill and took me there the first time we went down south.

You have chosen a lovely venue.

I am! On 19th July – 70 days!

We’re so impressed with them so far (especially now Terry has left!) and Brett has been fantastic. What food are you having? We booked in September 06 and they still offered carvery for the main course then and luckily will still do it for us now even though we postponed for a year (I would have been pregnant with our 2nd child and I look rough from start to finish when I’m pregnant so I wasn’t too keen!)

Where abouts are you from? It’s so exciting finding someone getting married at the same place – no one I know has ever heard of it!

Hi Jen, I thought it was just me! My wedding’s not until October. We live in the area so know the grasshopper well – many a family dinner has been eaten in there! What do you mean Terry’s left. I though Brett was the guy who was there before Terry? Do you have the names the wrong way round? We’ve not had any problem with Terry at all (so far!!).

Do you live round the area?

Brett is back and Terry has gone! Brett says the name Terry is a swear word at the moment hahaha! He told them he was more experienced than he actually was, and it turns out he didn’t have a clue what he was doing. He sent us 2 letters to introduce himself – one of them was meant for someone else, then he said we had to pay the £500 deposit (even though we’d already paid it in 2006!)

If I were you I’d call Brett to go over your plans and make sure it’s all ok – loads of the things we arranged with Terry were impossible – like he told us we could get 60+a few extra people in the small Rib Room for the ceremony. When we went back a few weeks ago Brett said that the registrar could well say that some guests couldn’t come in the room if there were too many (I think the limit is 50 something) So now we’re having everything in the big room like we were originally going to.

Have you been for your tasting yet?

We live in East Grinstead x

Hiya, thanks for letting me know all that – I’m now scared that all my plans will not be possible! I’m a little annoyed that Brett hasn’t contacted us to explain what’s going on to be honest. The last we heard from the Grasshopper was that Terry would be in touch to arrange a time for us to go and do the tasting. We called them a little while ago about out hogroast that we are having in the evening and asked to speak to Terry – they just said he wasn’t available! I guess I’d better be in touch with them pronto.

We live in Whyteleafe but are in East Grinstead all the time as our best man and his family live in Felbridge so we eat out there quite a lot. My fiancee’s golf club is near there too – Chartham Park, if you know it.

Yep I was annoyed too!! When I called and asked to speak to Terry they told me he wasn’t available too – went in 2 days later and the person on the bar said ‘I’ll just go get Brett’ – we were very confused!! We arranged the date of our tasting with Terry, and he said he’d call me a week before to see what we’d narrowed it down to – he never called so I called a couple of days before and his assistant didn’t have a clue what I was on about.

Definitely give them a call and ask what’s going on, maybe arrange to go and meet up with them so you can make sure everything is written down and you can go through everything with Brett properly. I hope your plans don’t have to change I’m just glad I called to go and look round again when I did – it’s only because my Grandma had never seen it and my Mum hadn’t been since we booked it in Sept 06, otherwise we’d not be going until about 3 weeks before and would have had to change timings, flowers (we were having extra for the ceremony room) and god knows what else – not good for the stress levels!

Yes I do know Chartham Park, my Mum and sisters go swimming there all the time and I used to go finding golf balls with my friend a few years ago!

Let me know what they say when you call them!

The Grasshopper Inn

The Grasshopper Inn in Kent is a wonderful Wedding Venue. The Tudor building displays typical periodic architecture mimicked in the interior design lending itself to glorious traditional Weddings. The dark wooden panelling and staircase have such an air of grandeur it’s hard not to be impressed. The secluded terraced garden is private and gorgeous, perfect for those intimate ‘couples photographs’ after your ceremony. The inn can accommodate between 20-170 for a seated meal and upto 500 for a less formal affair. The chefs and on site catering team have a wide range on menus in their repertoire and are happy to adapt to any requirements.

Caterham Photography are wonderful professionals in the world of Wedding Photography. They have shot many fantastic images for so many happy couples, you can see some of their work here and visit their website here.

This couple used a seasonal Winter theme, this just looks so stunning with the exposed wooden beams at The Grasshopper Inn . The mix of contemporary and rustic decorations and the subtle colour scheme of white, silver and gold add luxury and richness without feeling too blatant.
